A personal assessment:Professional vs. Drug Store Shampoos

May 16th, 2012

When I was younger, I thought nothing of stopping in at my local drug store and picking up a bottle of Herbal Essences or Pantene to wash my hair. Lately, I’ve been using Garnier Fructis. I remember when I first tried it, I loved it. It was cheap, smelled nice, and did the basic job of cleansing my hair. Then-my hair starting to fall out (not a LOT, but enough to worry me a little).  Since I have really thick hair it didn’t bother me much. After I ran out of  that bottle, I switched to using Dr. Ci. Labo and Matrix Biolage and noticed a HUGE difference. Not only had my hair stopped coming out, but these higher end salon products seemed to be much gentler on my hair. Not only that-it left my hair looking and  feeling a lot healthier. Does this mean that high end shampoos are better than drug store ones? Not necessarily! There are millions of women and men out there who use drug store hair products and stand by them. I suppose what I mean to say is-everyone is different and everyone’s hair will respond to certain products differently. So really, it’s all up to the individual. However, as for me,  I will be sticking to my professional shampoos as my  instyle choice!
