Hair Trend: Part two-Pastel Colors <3

August 17th, 2012

Wild, funky hair is instyle! A couple of months back, I wrote an article about the new trend of unnatural hair color that seems to be sweeping the nation! Everywhere, fashionistas are breaking out that peroxide and going bold! But what started out with big, bold colors have actually given way to softer and dare we say more wearable hues of pinks, greens, blues,….well you get the picture!!

Want to try this daring trend? But don’t know how to achieve pastel perfection? It’s easy! The key is DILUTION! While some hair color companies might offer pastel colors straight out of the tube, most do not.  So, in order to achieve that pretty pastel hue you will have to mix the hair color with conditioner so that the color will go on lighter. But be warned! Because of the dilution process, it will actually be HARDER to get the color to ‘stick’ onto your hair. There is a strong possibility that you will have to reapply it two or even three times to achieve the correct color. In addition, it’s also very important to note that to get the best color result stripping your hair of color (by bleaching) is an absolute must! Even if your hair is naturally blonde you should still bleach it (albeit at a much lower power strength -Vol 10 or 20 max) to get the best color opacity possible.

I hope this helps all you gals out there! Tune in next time~
